We started Blacklane five years ago to solve one of the biggest challenges in travel: the first and last miles of a trip.

Like many of you, we experienced the failures of legacy car services: exorbitant prices and opaque surcharges, lack of availability, booking troubles, inconsistent quality, and manual processes. The old way wasted time and money before, during and after trips.

We envisioned travelers focusing only on the reason for their trips, not on their means of travel. We believed that travelers should have professional rides in high-quality vehicles at affordable rates. We understood that local drivers could have deep relationships with a global partner to help better utilize their capacities. We believe all of those things even more strongly now.

Led by Daimler, today’s new investment and the largest in Blacklane’s history, will help us to further accelerate into this next era of professional ground transportation. In the coming months and years, we will make professional driver services as easy and common as booking flights and hotels, closing the missing link in the global travel chain.

We will start by adding more cities and countries. Four years ago we started with one city and two airports, and now serve more than 200 cities and 400+ airports in 50 countries. We will also integrate with more and more travel distribution partners, so we are there wherever you book and manage your travel.

The service you’re familiar with – commercially licensed and insured drivers, 24/7 customer service, our apps and website – will continue to improve and expand.

We will continue to strengthen our relationships with local drivers to help them grow their businesses. They are invaluable partners, delivering the Blacklane experience you expect. We’re always on the lookout for the industry’s best drivers. If that’s you, please let us know.

The other area of growth will be our staff in the Berlin headquarters and beyond. Our team puts its best into helping you online and on the road, exemplified by our customer care team. We are hiring for more than 20 positions across the company and will be adding more.
