The Al Safwa First Lounge takes its inspiration from Doha’s Museum of Islamic Art – and you’ll certainly feel you’ve entered a special enclave of culture and beauty when you visit. It places a premium on opulent, fine design with all kinds of captivating details.
A big, beautiful water feature greets you upon arrival at the Central Atrium, flanked on all sides by a distribution of gorgeous, low-level lighting to soothe the senses. This showcases Arabic-infused cuisine and a delectable choice of international food, including a list of favorites from the lounge’s Executive Chef should you need a little advice.
Al Safwa’s focus on luxury even extends to its own Duty-Free area, conveniently located inside the lounge itself. Choose from jewelry, perfume, fashion accessories and much more as you indulge in a little high end retail therapy ahead of your flight. For those who smoke, the Al Safwa First Lounge features an elegant smoking room equipped with plush leather seating.
There’s also a Media Room, where you can immerse yourself in a cinematic cocoon, complete with ambient lighting and surround sound. Finally, in celebration of Arabic and Islamic culture you’ll find some wonderful examples of ancient pottery and artworks on display, loaned by the Museum of Islamic Art.
Of course, what lounge worth its salt wouldn’t offer a spa dimension? Al Safwa’s Qspa comes with nine sophisticated treatment rooms, with a menu of muscle treatments and massages to help you truly reach your happy place. There’s also a thermal jacuzzi, a relaxation room and pedicure and manicure services.
Access and Pricing: Access to the Al Safwa First Lounge is primarily reserved for Qatar Airways’ first-class passengers. Al Mourjan Business Lounge – South
Location: The Al Mourjan Business Lounge South is located on Level 3 of the main terminal. It’s situated in the Duty Free Plaza South, Concourse A, next to Harrods Tea Room and to the left of the yellow Lamp Bear sculpture. Access is available via lifts or escalators after the security checkpoint.
Al Mourjan Business Lounge South offers an exquisite resort-style experience designed to evoke a five star hotel.
From the professional vibe (and big shiny desk) that greets you at reception, you’ll make your way to the Central Atrium where another stunning indoor water feature and enormous spiral staircase, complete with cascading chandelier, dominate the scene.
From the first moments, it’s apparent that this is a space that has been designed to impress and inspire. Marble surfaces, bronze walls and designer furniture come together in harmony, framing all sorts of neat design touches such as traditional calligraphy inscribed on sections of wall. The Al Mourjan Business Lounge South has taken its design inspiration from the natural elements, including sunlight and water. It all conspires to create a warm, sophisticated and utterly welcoming atmosphere over an expansive two-and-a-half acres of space.
If you’re here to dine, you’ll be spoilt for choice; the Al Mourjan serves up two separate floors of restaurants. Enjoy the international flair of the Global Deli on the main floor, where a diverse array of dishes is waiting for you. Or head upstairs for the hot and cold buffet sections, plus a special a la carte menu.
If you need a little downtime, check out the Airside Resort area – where you can also take your food if you wish to dine in privacy. Al Mourjan Business Lounge – The Garden
Location: The Garden is located in the northern expansion of the airport. Guests can easily reach the lounge from the South Terminal using a free sky train.
There’s more than one Al Mourjan Business Lounge to choose from at Hamad International. In fact (whisper it), the brand new Al Mourjan Business Lounge The Garden may be so mind-blowing that you won’t need to visit both.
Qatar Airways describes it as ‘unparalleled’, and even the briefest glance makes it clear why – this 7,390 square meter haven has been tailor made for the airline’s premium passengers to relax, indulge and recharge during their visit.
Most striking of all is The Garden’s location. Bursting with natural light, lush foliage and smart, slick design features, this lounge has also been deliberately perched above The Orchard – Hamad International’s very own tropical indoor garden. This marvelous blend of infrastructure and amenities spans a whopping 6,000 square meters and features over 300 trees and more than 25,000 plants from sustainable forests globally. Spending time in nature has proven health benefits, so adding such an experience to international air travel is surely a stroke of genius. It is also dotted with over 65 retail and dining outlets, meaning you can shop, dine and explore in this gorgeous greenery.
But back to the lounge itself. With such an incredible setting and view, you’re encouraged to spend your time unwinding and recharging. To help you out, The Garden offers 24 quiet rooms, a dedicated smoking area, seven spa treatment rooms, various scenic relaxation areas and a fitness studio. And of course, you’re very much encouraged to spend time exploring the rainforest below you.
It’ll come as no surprise that this lounge also offers an award-winning selection of traditional and modern cuisine. Hot and cold buffets, coffee, cocktails and bistro bar choices are all up for grabs, alongside a rotating a la carte menu.
Access and Pricing: Access to The Garden is available to Qatar Airways Business and First Class passengers. Economy Class passengers can also gain access for a fee of approximately $124. The lounge is open 24/7, accommodating the needs of travelers at any time of day or night.
Qatar Airways Platinum and Gold Lounges
Location: Qatar Airways operates Platinum and Gold Lounges in both the north terminal (Level 2, Concourse C) and the south terminal (Main terminal, Level 1).
As you’ve probably gathered, Hamad International doesn’t do things by halves. Alongside the top-of-the-range lounges we’ve covered, you’ll also find not one but two sets of Platinum and Gold class lounges.
While these are elite, members-only lounges, oneworld Emerald or Sapphire members are also welcome in the north lounge. As a rule, the north lounge is a shared space for various premium passenger classes, while the south lounge is segmented lounge-by-lounge. oneworld Emerald members can access the Platinum Lounge south, while Sapphire members can access the Gold Lounge.
While not quite as spacious as the Al Safwa and Al Mourjan lounges, you’ll still enjoy designer seating and charging spots for groups and individuals, with the distinct flavor of luxurious decor you’ve seen throughout Hamad International Airport in effect. You’ll also find relaxation loungers dotted around, in case you need somewhere more comfortable to let off some steam.

What’s the main difference between the Platinum and Gold lounges then, we hear you cry? Well, in a nutshell, the Gold standard lounges don’t offer a la carte dining, and also don’t have quite as much space for seating. You’ll find the views of the runway out of the window are a little less impressive too, with quite a large amount of seating having a partially concealed view of the action outside.
However, you’ll still enjoy a buffet with an impressive range of hot and cold foods, including breads and pastries, fresh fruits and meats. There’s also still a full-service bar, including complimentary champagne, coffee and various other drinks.
Be aware that Gold Members may be able to access a greater range of amenities in the combined Gold/Platinum Lounge in the north terminal, including a la carte dining. The choice you make may depend on how open you are to sharing – either way, you’re guaranteed high quality across the board in both the Gold and Platinum spaces.
