If you’re one of the nearly 13 million passengers that pass through Birmingham Airport (BHX) each year, don’t wait in the crowded airport departure areas between flights.

Avoid the crowds and relax in a quiet Birmingham airport lounge with peaceful work areas, free Wi-Fi, and complimentary food and beverage options. Most of these lounges are open to all passengers for an admission fee.

Birmingham Airport (BHX), located seven miles outside of Birmingham, England and is the seventh busiest airport in the UK, handling nearly 13 million passengers annually. The 2,000-acre facility offers flights throughout the UK as well as to points in Europe, the Middle East, North America, and the Caribbean.

One of the best ways to pass the time between flights at BHX is to take advantage of a Birmingham airport lounge. The five lounges at this airport offer quiet places to work, less crowded places to relax and regroup between flights, and free food and beverage options to keep you fuelled.

Aspire Lounge – an oasis of calm

The Aspire Lounge at Birmingham Airport is located just past security on the left as you exit the duty-free shopping area.

Facilities at this Birmingham Airport lounge include a quiet zone and a charging station for electronics. The lounge has free Wi-Fi as well as a wide selection of complimentary beverages and snacks.

This lounge is affiliated with the Priority Pass, Diners Club, and Dragon Pass networks. Travelers not linked to these networks can purchase one-day admission, starting at 20.99 GBP for adults and 15.99 GBP for children ages 2-11. (Children younger than age 2 are admitted free with an adult.) You can pre-book admission via the Birmingham Airport website or pay at the entrance to the lounge. You don’t have to be flying with a particular airline or in a particular class of service to use this lounge.

The Aspire lounge is open daily from 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Emirates Lounge – an exclusive experience

The Emirates Lounge at Birmingham Airport is reserved for the exclusive use of passengers flying first and business class with Emirates, as well as Skywards gold members (the highest level on Emirates’ frequent traveler program).

This Birmingham Airport VIP lounge is located after security between Gates 40 and 68 on the North Pier. The Emirates lounge features complimentary food and beverages, showers to help you fresh up between flights, and quiet work areas with complimentary Wi-Fi.

The Emirates Lounge is open before and after all Emirates flight arrivals and departures.

No1 Lounge – enjoy some bubbles between flights

The No1 Lounge in Birmingham Airport is located after security in the departure lounge adjacent to the Next fashion store. Like the Aspire lounges, the No1 Lounge is available to all departing travelers, regardless of airline or class of service.

The two-level lounge offers a fully-staffed bar with complementary soft and bar drinks, including prosecco. (You can upgrade to Champagne for 6.00 GBP per glass.) There is also a bistro with hot and cold food offerings. Services include unlimited Wi-Fi and complimentary magazines and newspapers. The quiet of the No1 Lounge is a great place to make arrangements to book a Blacklane limousine service to meet you when you get to your final destination.

The fee to enter is 28.00 GBP for adults and 18.00 GBP for children ages 2-11 when you pre-book your admission online. Entry at the lounge door is subject to availability and is priced at 35.00 GBP for adults and 20.00 GBP for children for a three-hour stay.

The No1 lounge is open daily from 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Clubrooms – soak up runway views

The Clubrooms is the most exclusive destination at Birmingham Airport. This private retreat is located on the departure pier, near Gate 54, about two minutes from the main departure lounge.

Facilities and services on offer at The Clubrooms include quiet work areas, some with runway views, a menu of seasonal and house-favorite menu items, soft drinks and bar drinks, and complimentary magazines and newspapers. A dedicated waiter is on hand to serve you during your stay at the lounge.

The lounge is open to all outbound passengers aged 12 and older. The entrance fee is 34.00 GBP per person or 40.00 GBP with the Champagne package if you pre-book online. Entrance on the day of departure is subject to availability and costs 40.00 GBP per person (no Champagne package is offered with same-day admission.)

The Clubrooms is open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Aspire Lounge (South) – start your day right

The Aspire Lounge (South) is similar to the Aspire Lounge in the main terminal. This lounge is located just after security in the South Departure Lounge, next to Gate 1. It’s ideally located for passengers flying with Flybe and Ryanair.

Facilities and services offered at the Aspire Lounge (South) include complimentary food and beverage service, including a hot breakfast in the mornings; a quiet work area; charging stations for all of your electronics; free Wi-Fi and complimentary newspapers.

The Aspire Lounge (South) is affiliated with the Priority Pass, Diners Club, and Dragon Pass networks. Outbound travelers not associated with these networks can purchase one-day admission starting from 20.99 GBP for adults and 15.99 GBP for children ages 2-11. (Children younger than two-years-old are admitted free with an adult.) You can pre-book admission via the Birmingham Airport website or pay at the entrance to the lounge.

Like the other Aspire Lounge, you don’t have to be flying with a particular airline or in a particular class of service to use this lounge. The Aspire Lounge (South) is open daily from 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Flying out of Birmingham Airport doesn’t have to mean spending long hours in a crowded departure lounge. This airport has a variety of lounges for departing passengers, most of which are open to all passengers.
