Four steps to handling excess luggage

Have you had a situation where your guest arrives with more luggage than you can fit in your vehicle? Here’s the right way to deal with the situation.

As a chauffeur, you aim to bring peace of mind to your guests throughout each service, but sometimes challenging situations, such as when a guest arrives with too much luggage, can happen.

In every Blacklane vehicle we guarantee guests can bring two pieces of luggage for first and business-class bookings and five pieces of luggage for van bookings. But, what happens if a guest arrives with three pieces of luggage for a business-class ride? What should you do to provide the best outcome for your guest?

Firstly, we ask all our chauffeurs to try to fit all the luggage safely into the trunk of their vehicle. Even if you know it will not fit, this shows your good will. If you can’t fit the luggage safely, the second step is to explain to your guest that you cannot take all their luggage for safety reasons.

The third step is to help your guest arrange for additional means of transportation for their excessive luggage. Our customer care concierges can help you explain the luggage policy or book additional transportation for the excess luggage.

The fourth step is to fulfill your ride by taking your guest and their correct number of luggage items to their destination.

With these four steps, you can help provide peace of mind for your guest even in unpredicted situations. So let’s repeat them one more time:

  1. Try to fit the luggage in the vehicle.
  2. Explain that you cannot fit the luggage safely in the vehicle.
  3. Help your guest to arrange an additional means of transportation for the excessive luggage.
  4. Head to the drop off destination with your guest.

There we have it. In order to secure the best service possible, please always remember these four steps the next time you are faced with excess luggage.
