It’s probably no surprise that German airline Lufthansa offers several lounges to choose from at Frankfurt Airport (FRA). You’ll find plenty of options if you’re flying other airlines as well. Choose from among these relaxing Frankfurt airport lounges when you’re on a layover or waiting to make a connection.

Terminal 1

Air Canada – chaise longues and breakfast decadence

The Air Canada Maple Leaf lounge at Frankfurt Airport is divided into smaller seating areas and nooks, providing a welcome sense of privacy. Sit in comfortable armchairs overlooking the tarmac, or tuck yourself into a private booth where you can stretch out on a chaise longue and watch TV.

The breakfast buffet offers every pastry known to Germany, plus some healthy options, too. Shower rooms are available for long-haul passengers.

The Air Canada lounge, which is on level 3 of the B transit area, is open to ticketed Star Alliance Gold members and business-class passengers.

Lufthansa First Class Lounge – first class all the way

Attention is paid to every detail at this spacious lounge, which offers everything from office cubicles with doors for full privacy to sleeping rooms for long layovers.

Enjoy one of the most lavish buffets in the airport, or grab a seat at the extensively stocked bar. Showers are available if you need to freshen up, and comfortable seating is arranged in groupings that encourage conversation. This lounge also offers a smoking area with a cigar humidor if that’s your thing.

Lufthansa Senator Lounges – spacious and practical

With multiple Lufthansa Senator Lounges at Frankfurt Airport in Terminal 1, you don’t have to worry about your lounge getting too crowded.

Relax in comfortable leather armchairs to watch the activity down on the tarmac, or grab a bite to eat. Among the many options on offer are made-to-order wraps and salads, with staff on hand to provide food allergy information if you ask. Shower rooms and daybeds are available for longer layovers, and one of the Senator Lounges even features spa treatments. You have access to the Senator lounges if you’re a Lufthansa or Star Alliance first-class passenger or a Star Alliance Gold member.

Lufthansa Business Lounges – many options to suit your needs

If you’re flying Lufthansa business-class or premium economy, or if you’re a Star Alliance member, you can enjoy free access to the multiple Lufthansa Business Lounges at Frankfurt Airport in the various concourses of Terminal 1.

As with the Senator Lounges, this results in plenty of space to handle the many passengers. At the large Lufthansa Business Lounges, you can choose between separate areas for dining, relaxation, entertainment, drinking or working, each with its own type of seating.

There are plenty of places to plug in, as well as an enclosed smoking lounge. The food is tasty, and the ever-popular würste are constantly restocked.

Terminal 2

Air France/KLM Lounge – open to Skyteam Alliance members

This quiet lounge is located on level 2, past the security checkpoint. It features plenty of sofa and armchair seating, plus dining tables for four with comfortable chairs and a small business center if you need to work.

Food consists of a buffet that’s well-supplied with cold cuts, plus self-serve drinks, a decent liquor selection, and an excellent espresso machine.

The Air France lounge at Frankfurt Airport is open to Air France, KLM, Air Baltic, Finnair, and Icelandair passengers, as well as to those flying airlines that are part of the Skyteam Alliance, which includes Aeromexico, China Airlines, Delta, Korean Air, Alitalia, and more.

Cathay Pacific Lounge – Asian and Western buffet

The buffet at this lounge, located in Transit area E, features both Asian and Western food choices—all of them tasty—which makes for a nice change from standard airport lounge options.

Seating is comfortable and plentiful, and you have an extensive array of drinks to choose from. Showers are available if you’re in the middle of a long journey, and international phones let you make the connections you need. The Cathay Pacific lounge is available to first-class and business-class travelers, as well as to oneworld Sapphire and Emerald members and Marco Polo Silver members on some flights.

Emirates Lounge – luxury in the details

This spacious lounge provides plenty of comfortable seating and lots of decadent touches, including fluffy towels in the restrooms.

An exceptionally lovely buffet features an intriguing mix of European, Asian and Arabic dishes. This lounge is open to Emirates first-class and business-class passengers, holders of Gold and Silver Emirates Skywards cards, and Qantas Gold and Silver cardholders.

Premium Traveller Lounge – access for oneworld flyers

This reconfigured lounge used to be Air Iberia’s first-class lounge, but is now open to all airlines that are part of the oneworld family: American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Japan Airlines, LAN Airlines, Royal Jordanian Airways, and Air Baltic. You’ll find everything you need at the Premium Traveller Lounge at Frankfurt Airport, including hot and cold food, a place to plug in, and free Wi-Fi.

Japan Airlines Sakura Lounge – all the basics

This lounge features plenty of comfortable seating, though most of it is lined up in one large room, so you don’t get that feeling of privacy you might be craving. Food and beverage offerings are fairly standard, unfortunately without the Japanese dishes you can often find at Japan Airlines lounges across Asia.

Wi-Fi in the small business center is delightfully speedy. Because Japan Airlines is a oneworld member, you’ll find plenty of oneworld travelers here.

Sky Lounge – easy access to comfort

Priority Pass members have access to the Sky Lounge at Frankfurt Airport, as do those flying on Delta, Korean Air, China Airlines, Saudia or Vietnam Airlines. Other passengers may pre-buy a ticket to the lounge for 39 EUR.

A hot and cold buffet featuring German soup and würste awaits you, or you can plug in at the business center to take advantage of the free Wi-Fi. TVs are tuned to the news, and a wide supply of reading material is available. For an extra fee, grab a shower to freshen up.
