Exploring the renovated Delta Sky Club

Flying Delta out of JFK had long been a disjointed experience without access to a premium lounge space. However, the launch of the Delta Sky Club lounge in 2015 has changed this, providing a luxury space for Delta passengers.

The lounge is accessible to all Delta One and SkyTeam passengers traveling internationally, SkyTeam Elite Plus members, Delta Reserve members, and Virgin Australia Club members. American Express Platinum cardholders flying with Delta are also allowed free access, regardless of their ticket. Alternatively, day passes are available for 59 USD, or 29 USD for Gold and Platinum Delta Amex cardholders.

Located near Gate 32 in Terminal 4, and available from 5 a.m. to midnight, the vast majority of qualifying passengers leaving from JFK will have time to explore Delta’s Sky Club lounge. Entering the lounge

The Delta Sky Club lounge at JFK in Terminal 4 is on the second level through a set of glass doors. The entryway is large and spacious, providing plenty of room for larger throngs of guests during high traffic periods.

To the immediate left of the entrance, at the top of the escalator, guests can find rows of leather seats and high-top tables to enjoy some R&R solo or with travel companions. Seating is available to the right as well, with additional table and chair configurations for ultimate flexibility.

Private workstations are available for those who need to catch up on business obligations. For those who want to watch planes come and go, there is also seating along the windows. If you’re hoping to get away from the hustle and bustle of other lounge-goers, a selection of high-backed chairs allows for a quieter experience. Most chairs and seating areas have plenty of outlets to make sure your devices are always fully charged.

The Sky Club lounge is also home to the Ciroc room, a special VIP experience for high profile guests. It can also be rented out for conferences and other corporate events.

Dining in the Sky Club lounge

With 25,000 square feet of space, there’s plenty of room to unwind during your trip to this Delta Sky Club lounge. For those who want a bite to eat, there are plenty of options. A buffet bar is available in the morning with cereal, fruits, pastries, bagels, yogurt, and oatmeal. Patrons can also enjoy juice, water, and coffee. At lunch, this switches over to a selection of hors d’oeuvres as well as salads, soups, bowls, and fresh fruits and vegetables. First-class and business-class members staying in the lounge are treated to the Delta One experience, which includes a special tapas menu with small plates, drinks, and dessert.

For those who want to indulge in a stronger drink, the lounge offers a full bar filled with complimentary beer, wine, and liquor in the middle of the entry area. If you would rather enjoy premium selections, like top-shelf liquor or high-end wines, these are available at a price – or in exchange for miles.

Welcome to the Sky Club SkyDeck

Easily among the best amenities available in the lounge, the SkyDeck is a wonderful opportunity unavailable anywhere else in the airport. An outdoor open-air patio spanning 2,000 square feet, the Sky Club SkyDeck provides a unique place to enjoy your pre-flight time at the airport.

Open whenever the weather conditions are ideal, the SkyDeck provides ample outdoor seating under canopies for shade. There is no bar outside, but waiters will come to take your order, from what is available at the indoor bar.

For those who like to watch planes take off or come in for a landing, there’s no better area anywhere in the airport. It does get a little loud, but the view is unparalleled.

Extras and amenities

A good lounge should be a place to prepare for the next leg of your journey, no matter what that means. In this regard, the Delta Sky Club lounge certainly doesn’t disappoint. In addition to all the areas to sit and relax, guests can also enjoy a TV room with plush chairs as well as access to magazines and newspapers. The lounge also offers a business center with a printer, high-speed internet, and computer terminals for those who aren’t traveling with laptops.

Travelers on a long journey who need a little freshening up can take advantage of one of the six shower spaces located within the lounge’s red-tiled bathroom area. During busy periods, there can be quite a wait, so guests are advised to book a shower in advance. This can be completed at the separate shower reservation kiosk at the right of the main check-in desk. An attendant can assist you in finding your shower and collecting any necessary toiletries.
